Kidnapping in Nigeria: A Social Threat to Educational Institutions, Human Existence and Unity

This paper examined the problem of kidnapping and its consequences in Nigeria. Kidnapping has potential creating social tension, psychological trauma (mental emotional problems), insecurity, untimely death others society. It been observed identified that is not a new crime Nigeria other countries world. But apparent current growth rate all parts country benefits perpetrators are deriving from this criminal activity. In study, some challenges were identified. They include: poverty, unemployment, politics religion. The mode kidnappers' operations have prevalence, apart causes attributed to laxity implementation process prosecute offenders. As result these findings, it suggested issue ransom payment by families/relatives victims kidnappers should be seriously condemned. Government on their part, endeavour create employment for teeming population youths as will help reduce proliferation kidnappers. Security agents well equipped with sophisticated guns wage war against no doubt restore peace security country.
